Learning Material “Vanishing Points. Moving Stories of Life between Europe and the Middle East”

How can I initiate learning and reflection processes on the “Middle East” with teenagers and young adults and do justice to the complexity of the topic? How can a connection be made between an examination of National Socialism and European (Middle East) policies?

The teaching material “Vanishing Points. Moving Stories of Life between Europe and the Middle East” uses seven personal stories to show how German and Austrian history is interwoven into the history of the Arab-Jewish “Middle East”. The biographical approach makes it easier for young people to approach the diverse historical contexts and facilitates discussions about historical and political processes as well as about identity images and historical narratives. The (online) advanced training is aimed at teachers and educational professionals working with teenagers or young adults aged 14 and older on the topics covered in the teaching material.

Target groups: teachers, educators working with teenagers
